కాకినాడ బీచ్‌ - Picturesque beach of our little town

మనగ్రహమ్మీద 

మొత్తమంతా నీరే ఉండేది. 

క్రమంగా ఆ నీటిని వెనక్కి తోస్తూ 

నేల ఆ ప్రదేశాన్ని ఆక్రమించుకోవడం మొదలైంది. 

జనావాసాలు ప్రారంభమయ్యాయి. 

వెనక్కి తోయబడిన సముద్రం... 

తిరిగి తనచోటుని  దక్కించుకోవడానికి ఉగ్రంగా ఉరుకులెత్తుకొని వచ్చి విరిగి పడుతుంది. 

నిరంతరంగా తన ప్రయత్నాన్ని కొనసాగిస్తుంది. 

దానికి అలుపులేదు, విశ్రాంతీలేదు. 

తొడలు చరుస్తుంది, గుండెలుబాదుకొంటుంది. 

ఎప్పటికైనా విజయం సాధిస్తుందా?

కాకినాడ సముద్రం ఎలా ఉంటుందో చెప్పాలా? పట్టణ ప్రజలు సాధారణంగ వీకెండ్స్‌లో గడిపే సముద్రపు ఒడ్డున ఆ కొంతముక్కనే బీచ్‌గా భావిస్తే, నిరాశే మిగులుతుంది. అదిదాటి తీరం పట్టుకొని కొంచం ముందుకు వెళితే మనసు చెదిరే అందాన్ని ఆస్వాదించవచ్చు. ఆకాశం, సముద్రం కలిసే క్షితిజరేఖవద్ద ద్వీపంలాంటి హోప్ ఐలేండ్, నిలిచి ఉన్న షిప్పులు. నీలి సముద్రం మీదనుంచి అలుపెరుగకుండా తెల్లని నురుగులు నింపుకొని దొర్లుకొంటూ వస్తున్న కెరటాలు. సముద్రం నుంచి నేల వైపు చూస్తే గుబురుగా పెరిగిన సర్వీతోట, లైట్ హౌస్. కిలో మీటర్ల కొద్దీ వ్యాపించినట్టు కనిపిస్తున్న తీరం, ముఖ్యంగా కెరటాలు వచ్చి తాకుతున్న తడి ఇసుక, దానిమీద లంగరువేసి ఉన్న నావలు. తనివి తీరని అందాల్ని మాటల్లో వర్ణించాలంటే, ఎవరి గురించో చెప్పలేనుకానీ, నాకు మాత్రం సాధ్యంకాదు. కళ్ళు చెదిరే బీచ్ అందాల్ని అనిల్ తన ఏడు నిమిషాల షార్ట్ ఫిలింలో అద్భుతంగా బంధించాడు. కాకినాడ బీచ్ అందాల్ని మీరుకూడా చూసి ఆనందించండి.

A beach is a beach anywhere on this earth.  But I can say, ours is the most beautiful one. The utmost beauty  may not lie in the panorama of the coastal line, but in the beholders` eyes.  Especially when the person is someone like me, who is passionately attached to his/her native place.  We, people of our town usually go to the beach during week ends. Since the town does not lie on the very edge  of the beach, we need to travel around five to six kilometers to get there.

Though the coast line from north to south appears to be stretching from horizon to horizon, people picnic at an area hardly extending to one kilometer.   All kinds of thing are littered around, making the beach literally a kind of dustbin. When you attempt to swim in the beach, you might be tickled by flotsam like polythene bags, twigs, bottle caps, disposable plates, glasses and thrown away plastic water bottles.  Disgusting! you might feel. But, wait!  I think this kind of situation can be seen at any picnic spot to where the people frequent. Now, I would like to show you the other side of the coin.

Want to explore  things? We need to walk a little from all these mundane things.  Farther away from this there is a sea of change. We will be surprised to notice clean beach, foamy rolling waves constantly kissing the wet sand. At the far end where the skyline touches the sea, there is a small island, which we call hope island. It is a natural boon to the people here. Kakinada is shielded from violent cyclones and tsunamis by this small island. Cargo ships are seen anchored in the sea along side this island, as ours is one of the important port cities in the country. Looking from the beach onto the land, one can distinctly notice towering Vakalapudi  light house.   It is flanked on both sides by thick  plantations.  Fishermen`s boats are scattered and anchored on sand dunes.

Experiencing the cool breeze from the sea, stroll along the coast line as far as you can. As you step forward thousands of small crabs scurry away and quickly disappear into their  small holes in the sand. Fisher men are often found working unmindful of the picnickers.

One look at all this is enough to appreciate the beauty. Recently, one of my buddies has made a short film taking the beach as background. It is about an unsuccessful love story.  Let us not bother about the story of the film, but I would like you to watch it to appreciate the scenic beauty of our beach. He used  a  still camera with shooting option in it to capture the nature`s charm. It scarcely  took him six hours to shoot and two more days to edit and get it ready. The duration of the video is seven minutes. I am certain you won`t feel bad for having spent your valuable time,  after watching it.
